HI, I'M EDRIC. I AM AN ASPIRING NOVELIST, JOURNALIST AND LAWYER.
Artist Author Abolitionist
I write about people — politicians, celebrities, civilians and, of course, myself — for my enjoyment. I spend a lot of time thinking about social codes and interpersonal relationships and cultural pull and why we like the things that we like. I also write for the means of self-preservation — on the issues of: Black rhetoric, Critical Race Theory, anti-racist pedagogy, intersectionality, prison abolition, police demilitarization, and criminal justice reform with impactful civic engagement.

As a student at Howard University and prelaw fellow at Duke University School of Law, I gained intensive practical and theoretical exposure and a robust understanding of the legal reasoning, analysis, and communication into the foundational principles of legal practice, mirroring the rigorous demands of the first-year legal writing curriculum. I also benefited from direct mentorship by policy counsel at FWD.us, and participated in a reception and conference with federal appellate and district judges from across the country through the lauded Bolch Judicial Institute. Our cohort sponsors included "big law" and corporate law firms like: Latham & Watkins, Robinson & Bradshaw, and Weil Gotshal.

Scholarship & Research
Since my time at Howard University, I have been awarded more than fifteen competitive national and regional scholarships and fellowships in recognition of academic excellence, civic leadership, and first-generation college student advocacy. I have previously worked as a public policy fellow affiliated with Brown University and keynote speaker with The Scholarship Academy. Currently, I have research interest in legal jurisprudence, policing practices and law enforcement accountability. I aim to pursue both my juris doctorate and doctorate of philosophy degrees and ultimately working as an investigative journalist for The Times or within the walls of the White House and then giving back to my community as an educator.
